Limbal conjunctival incision
The conjunctiva is grasped and elevated just posterior to the limbus, at the level of the superior border of the lateral rectus muscle using 0.3 forceps. A small radial incision is made using westcott scissors. The forceps are then used to grasp conjunctiva and underlying tenon’s capsule and a second cut is made with the scissors. The radial incision is extended and the scissors are slid into the sub-tenon’s space parallel to the limbus. This opens up the sub-tenon’s space and allows the conjunctiva and tenon’s layers to be cut near the limbus. A second radial incision is made near the inferior border of the muscle and the sub-tenon’s space opened to allow insertion of a muscle hook.
