Dr. Takushi Shimomura

Visiting Scientist

Dr. Takushi Shimomura obtained his Ph.D. from Kyoto University in Japan and continued his research training at both Kyoto and Nagoya Universities as a postdoctoral researcher. He then moved to the National Institute for Physiological Sciences (NIPS) as an Assistant Professor included within the group of Professor Yoshihiro Kubo. His research focuses on the structure-function relationship of voltage-gated Na+ channels, especially those expressed on intracellular organelles. To determine precisely whether the channels are localized in the intracellular organelles or plasma-membrane, Takushi is spending a short sabbatical period to learn techniques developed by the Bowie lab. His visit to the Bowie lab is a part of an ongoing collaboration between McGill University and NIPS.
