Alek Ebbeling was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is currently completing his Bachelor of Science at McGill University with a major in Neuroscience. After learning about molecular mechanisms of synaptic transmission, Alek became interested in electrophysiology and joined the Bowie lab in the summer of 2018. His aim is to study glutamate receptor signalling complexes by examining residues that may be involved in altering functional properties at glutamatergic synapses. Outside of the lab, Alek is a member of the McGill Debating Union and is a super fan of the New England Patriots.
