Professor in Pharmacology and Therapeutics at McGill: I came to McGill in September 2005 after having spent nine years at the Montréal Heart Institute (a teaching hospital at the Université de Montréal). I am originally from southwestern Ontario (Windsor) and obtained my PhD at the University of Toronto.

I was awarded the 2020-2025 Canadian Pacific Chair in Biotechnology to reflect our unique focus on combining biosensor approaches with iPSC-based disease modelling for cardiomyopathies. I am actively developing new courses for medical, undergraduate and graduate teaching. Since 2015, I have been the chair of the Education Committee for McGill Regenerative Medicine Network. We are currently working to put together a graduate concentration in stem cell biology and how it translates into to therapies for regenerative medicine. This again parallels a shift in emphasis in my own research, which “translates” into changes in the material I teach students. For me, there is little separation now between research and teaching.
