Jana Schuettpelz
Postdoctoral Researcher

Originally from Germany, I obtained my B.Sc. in Biomedical Science from the VUB in Brussels, a M.Sc. in Molecular Medicine from the University of Göttingen and I moved to Montreal in 2018 for my Phy academic journey, I was mostly interested in immunology, alloD in Eric Shoubridge’s lab at the Neuro. During the early stages of mwing me to gain a background in animal handling and vast microscopy techniques. Starting my PhD, I shifted perspectives from physiological questions to more fundamental cell biology and I elucidated key mechanisms of a mitochondrial protein associated with neurological diseases. Therefore, I established cellular models and optimized various cell-based assays to gain a better understanding of the protein function of SLC25A46 in mitochondrial dynamics and its associated pathological mechanisms. In January 2024, I began my Post-Doc in Terry’s lab, analyzing compounds targeting GPCRs and their effects on iPSC-derived cardiac disease models using biosensors.
