I completed my PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2018 at the Federal University of Parana (Brazil) being awarded with the “Thesis of the Year” in my Postgraduate Program. I have participated on the “Science Without Borders” Program in 2016, when I had the opportunity to integrate a recognized research team at the Monash University (Australia). My primary background is on organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry. My research has been focused on the design, synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of novel bioactive compounds, developing target-specific drug candidates for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (targeting the allosteric site of the M1 AChR). I’ve joined Terry’s lab in 2019 with the challenge of developing caged-ligands targeting the AT1R. Our goal is to improve the “drug-likeness” of such compounds and, ultimately, to be able to evaluate the therapeutic implications of selectively targeting GPCRs located intracellularly. My project will be a collaboration between Terry, David Chatenet (INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier) and Bruce Allen (Université de Montreal and Montreal Heart Institute).
