Dr. Karelle Léon

Visiting Researcher

Dr. Karelle Léon was born in France and carried out her BSc (2006) in Cellular Biology and Physiology at the University of Brest where she studied gene expression of Caco-2 in the laboratory of Dr Fessard at the AFSSA (Fougères, France). She then obtained a Masters degree (2008) in Biotechnology and Health before completing a PhD studying the effect of hypothermia on experimental sepsis with Pr. L'Her at the University of Brest. During her postdoctoral training in the lab of Pr Giroux-Metgès, she further developed expertise in muscle physiology with a particular interest in the expression of sodium (Na+) channels. Dr. Léon will extend her interest in Na+-channels by looking at their biology in the mammalian brain.
