Why do we need your support?


Our mission is to deliver excellence and leadership in cancer research and treatment, in the education and training of oncology professionals, and in the advancement of all aspects of care of the patient with cancer. For the past 26 years, since our department was established, we have faithfully met these goals. We host many programs and divisions that produce world-class research that spans the entire spectrum from the discovery of molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis to learning how to provide end-of-life patient care.

However, not all is cause for celebration. As we endeavour to deliver the mission of the Department, we find ourselves in a situation that forces us to embark upon a fund raising campaign in order to maintain our high level of performance. Recent university budget cuts that originate from the difficult financial climate of the last four years are beginning to impact on our ability to deliver on our overarching mission. Despite the scarcity of resources, our faculty scientists and clinicians have excelled in conducting great value-for-money research and education. However, maintaining the prominence of our research and training programs has become increasingly difficult, in light of these budget cuts. Our needs are many and any amount will help us restore the funding lifelines to some of our critical teaching and research activities.

Making a donation

If you wish to support the Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology at McGill University in its ongoing research on the cause, prevention and treatment of cancer as well as its teaching/training initiatives, a donation is an appropriate way to do so.

In memoriam

In memoriam donations are made if the donor wishes to honour the memory of a family member, friend or colleague who has passed away.

In honour

In honour donations are made if the donor would like to honour major milestone life events such as anniversaries, birthdays, retirements etc.

If you would prefer to make a cash donation, please deliver your gift of cash in person to the address above. Please do not send cash in the mail.

Credit card

To use your credit card to make a donation, please call the Department Chair's office at 514-398-2264 and make your donation over the phone.

McGill University Donation & Records Services is responsible for processing and receipting all donations made to McGill University and for maintaining all donor information including Alumni. It is also responsible for applying Canadian Revenue Agency Guidelines before accepting, processing and tax receipting a donation.  Always include your complete mailing address so that McGill University can mail you a receipt for tax purposes, once your donation is processed by the Donation & Records Services.
