Non-Ministry Funded Residency Positions
Applicants who do not fulfill the criteria to apply for funding from the
Quebec Ministry of Health can apply for a Royal College-accredited
residency program (of
3 years in length or less) provided they have
funding from an acceptable source. Acceptable sources of funding include
monies from a government, a scientific or international organization, a
university or a faculty of medicine. All other sources of funding (for
example, self-funding) will be refused. Unfunded training is not
possible. The minimum acceptable bursary is the equivalent of the R-1
salary (approx. $43,000 per year). Additionally, scholarships must cover
the tuition and other student services fees. Please consult the
appropriate section on this:
Student Services
and Fees.
