The mission of the Division of Dentistry
is to promote, restore, and maintain
excellent oral health of children and
adolescents in our community. The
Division also has a mission of
maintaining the high standard of
excellence in teaching future health
care professionals in our community.
The Division of Dentistry provides a
full range of dental services for
children and adolescents: this includes
comprehensive treatment for traumatic
injuries, early childhood caries, cleft
lip and palate, oro-maxillo-facial and
dental deformities. This population can
have complicated dental problems and/or
medical problems requiring
hospital-based dental treatment. The
Division of Dentistry offers as well
dental surgeries under general
anesthesia and 24 hours, 7 days per week
dental emergency service.
The Division of Dentistry has created
and maintained over the years excellent
collaborations with other medical
disciplines within and outside the
Montreal Children’s Hospital. The
Division has been an important ally in
the functioning of the Saliva Management
Clinic at the MacKay Centre. The
Division is also part of the new
craniofacial program of the Montreal
Children’s Hospital. And it is the
dental reference center for the Shriners
Hospital.
The areas of expertise of the Dentistry
Division include: traumatology, oral
problems associated with osteogenesis
imperfecta, cleft and craniofacial
dental care, sialorrhea management and
of course infectious oro-dental diseases
including Early Childhood Caries.
