Cancer Genetics
Cancer Genetics is committed to excellence in
research, education and teaching in the field of hereditary cancer. Its mission
is to establish a leading multidisciplinary centre for hereditary cancer
genetics in Montréal that will provide an ideal environment for clinical
service, research and teaching. Research currently focuses on the genetics of
breast, ovarian, colorectal and prostate cancers.
Human genetics is now at the forefront of academic medicine. Its applicability to the management of individuals with, or at risk of, cancer has also created the sub-specialty of clinical cancer genetics. For the past decade, hereditary cancer has been a prominent feature of research at McGill University.
