Education & Training

Oncology-related teaching and training occurs at McGill and at the affiliated teaching hospitals - McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), Jewish General Hospital (JGH) and St. Mary’s Hospital Center (SMH). The Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology offers residency/fellowship training programs in medical, surgical and radiation oncology. In addition there are specialty training programs in hematology/oncology, pediatric oncology, palliative care, and medical physics.  Department members are also involved in the teaching and training of undergraduate medical students. They teach oncology-related undergraduate and graduate level courses offered by other Departments within the Faculty of Medicine and supervise Master’s and PhD students as well as postdoctoral fellows. Some provide continuing medical education lectures to other health care professionals and informative lectures on various aspects of cancer to the general public.
