Dear Colleagues,

Please join us on November 5, 2010 for Nursing Our Profession Back to Health: Creating high retention environments. The McGill University School of Nursing hosts the Conference in partnership with the McGill University teaching hospitals.

Nursing Explorations is a "must attend" for nurse managers, front-line nurses, nurse administrators, human resources personnel, clinical nurse specialists and nurse practitioners, educators in the community, nurses, and nursing students.

Invited Faculty includes key Canadian experts in the area of Nursing Retention:

  • Gail Tomblin Murphy, RN, PhD, Dalhousie University and the WHO/PAHO Collaborating Centre on Health Workforce Planning and Research
  • Mary Ferguson-Paré, RN, PhD, CHE, University of Toronto and the University Health Network
  • Mélanie Lavoie-Tremblay, RN, MSc, PhD, McGill University and Centre FERASI
  • Sophie Baillargeon, RN, MSc(A), McGill University and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC)
  • Martine Mayrand Leclerc, RN, MGSS/MHA, PhD, Université du Québec en Outaouais.

Plus, recent McGill graduates will present their perspectives on the topic:

By the end of the Conference, participants will be able to:

  • Describe key elements constituting a quality work environment;
  • Understand how mentorship, collaboration and teamwork foster respect and impact positively on job satisfaction;
  • Identify initiatives to affect positive change within their professional lives;
  • Recognize challenges faced by new nursing recruits, senior experienced nurses and nursing leaders.
