Research Activities
The Gynecological
Oncology Unit at the McGill University Health Centre is involved
both in fundamental (basic) and clinical research to improve the
care of women with gynecological cancer.
The research
activities are targeted towards multiple levels: cancer
prevention, improvement of treatment outcome, and better control
of treatment side effects.
Patients seen in our
clinics have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials,
when judged appropriate. For further information, please visit

The
multidisciplinary team is affiliated with the National Cancer
Institute of Canada (NCIC), with the Radiation Therapy
Oncology Group, and with the Gynecology Oncology Group (GOG). In addition, multiple clinical trials are
activated in our institutions.
Our research
activities include:

clinical trials on the HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine
for the prevention of cervical cancer.

of ovarian cancer –Trials on improving outcomes

research on the use of radiation sensitizers for cervical
cancer

research on the use of Intensity Modulated Ratiation Therapy
(IMRT) in the treatment of patients with gynecological
cancer
