Projects for Thesis Supervision:

1. Characterization of the mechanistic phenotype for the production of emphysema in cigarette smoking exposed mice. These comprise of the study of inflammation, cytokines, proteinases, cellular at 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 weeks of smoking exposure.

2. Study of the genetic determinants for the development of emphysema in mice exposed to cigarette smoke. Resistant and susceptible strains have been identified. Gene chip technology and linkage analysis (QTL study) are being used in the project.
