Description of addicts.dat (free format) Scanned by jh from Kleinbaum DG "Survival Analysis: A Self- learning Text" Springer, New York 1996 Data from a study by Caplehorn et al. ("Methadone Dosage and Retention of Patients in Maintenance Treatment," Med J. Aust., 1991). These data comprise the times in days spent by heroin addicts from entry to departure from one of two methadone clinics. There are two further covariates, namely, prison record and methadone dose, believed to affect the survival times. A listing of the data as stored in a SPIDA file is given in Appendix B. A listing of the variables is given below: 1: Subject ID 2: Clinic (1 or 2) 3: Survival status (0 = censored, 1 = departed from clinic) 4: Survival time in days 5: Prison record (0 = none, 1 = any) 6: Methadone dose (mg/day) Data provided by John Caplehorn (The University of Sydney, Department of Public Health).
