BIOS601 AGENDA: Thursday September 01, 2011
[updated August 29, 2011]
No formal class on Sept 1, but...
-
Start now, by yourself, on the ASSIGNMENT on Sampling and its Error.
The exercise can be found in the homework link in the Tue 09.06 Sampling.. row.
The resources for it can be found under 'Oceanography Data' in the Resources link on the same row.
Some of the Tue. September 06 class will be devoted to issues that arise from the exercise,
but to profit
fully from that short portion of the class, you will need to have attempted the 5 questions beforehand.
The 'hand-in' date will be Fri Sept 09,
so start early and challenge yourself to get as much done early as you can.
We will keep up a very fast pace (with exercises every week!) for the first 2 months, so you need to 'hit the ground running'.
-
Start preparing a few slides in PowerPoint or LateX (beamer) for your 'break the ice' presentation (see Sept 06 Agenda)
JH will 'present' on Tuesday September 06. Students will present in subsequent classes -- at each class we will randomly
select who is to present that day. In past years, it has been an educational and fun (and skill-acquiring) activity.
- Read the research report to be discussed on Sept 06 (see Sept 06 Agenda)
