Getting into Residency: Canadian Residencies

All Canadian residency positions are filled via CaRMS (Canadian Resident Matching Service).

CaRMS does all of the following:

  2. Provides application information for each individual program
  3. Hosts applicant electronic residency applications
  4. Receives one copy of each applicant’s supporting documents, scanning these to each applicant’s electronic file
  5. Distributes electronic application and attached supporting documents to all programs to which an applicant has applied
  6. Receives applicant rank order lists
  7. Receives residency program rank order lists
  8. Carries out “The Match” linking applicants to programs
  9. Runs match statistics and provides match reports
