All Canadian residency positions are filled
via CaRMS (Canadian Resident
Matching Service).
CaRMS does all of the following:

Lists the number of residency positions
available at each institution in each discipline

Provides application information for
each individual program
-
Hosts applicant electronic residency
applications

Receives one copy of each applicant’s
supporting documents, scanning these to each applicant’s
electronic file

Distributes electronic application and
attached supporting documents to all programs to which an
applicant has applied
-
Receives applicant rank order lists
-
Receives residency program rank order
lists
-
Carries out “The Match” linking
applicants to programs
-
Runs match statistics and provides match
reports
CaRMS Match Timeline
Please note that you must be a landed
immigrant or Canadian Citizen to be eligible for CaRMS
residencies outside of Quebec. Visa students can only apply for
residencies at a Quebec school (McGill, Université de Montréal,
Laval, and Sherbrooke).
