Characterization of ShcA-dependent gene expression changes

As I pursued my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at McGill University, I worked in Dr. Siegel lab as part of 2 different Biochemistry independent research projects first during the fall semester of 2011 and then during the winter semester of 2012. After completed my undergraduate studies, I officially joined the lab as a Master student in the fall of 2012. Previous work done in the lab revealed a critical role for the ShcA adaptor protein in the cooperation between ErbB2 and TGFβ signaling pathways to induce the migration, invasion and metastasis of breast cancer cells. I’m currently attempting to characterize ShcA dependent gene expression changes induced by TGFβ in ErbB2-expressing cells in the intention to better understand the mechanisms by which ShcA mediates this synergy between ErbB2 and TGFbβ signaling pathways.
