First World Congress of the International Academy of Nanomedicine(IANM)  was held in Yalong Bay Mangrove Tree Resort, San Ya , HaiNan, China  during June 12-13, 2009. The Congress is cochaired by Professor Chiming Wei of the International Academy of Nanomedicine and Professor Shenming Wang of the Sun Yat-Sen University and The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University. At this congress, the International Academy of Nanomedicine was officially organized.

FDA public workshop on "Safety of Hemoglobin-Based Oxygen Carriers (HBOCs)"  April 29-30, 2008 Lister Hill Auditorium, NIH   http://www.fda.gov/cber/scireg.htm CBER and NIH are co-sponsoring a workshop about the safety of hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers (HBOCs) as related to a variety of potential uses of these investigational products. Clinical and non clinical studies of HBOCs as either blood substitutes or as resuscitation fluids have raised questions about the safety of these products. A number of HBOCs evaluated in clinical trials have been associated with similar adverse events. The goals of the workshop are to discuss what is known about the safety of the products, and possible paths forward for development of these products.
