Research Area:

Neuroscience (Neurocytology, Neuropharmacology)

Research Description:

My main research interest is the unravelling of the mechanisms underlying chronic pain states, both in the central and peripheral nervous systems. I am particularly interested in arthritis and neuropathic pain models. Methods used in my lab include: immunocytochemistry at the light and electron microscopic levels, animal behaviour testing, and neurochemistry. I also have a major interest in the study of the effects of aging on the structure and function of the neocortex (in collaboration with Claudio Cuello).
