Student Handbook
 

The Student Handbook answers questions of interest to students and supervisors alike.  Issues addressed are registration and course work, financial support, and the stages of progress through the graduate program, including a time-line for both the M.Sc. and the Ph.D. programs.

Research Progress Tracking Forms (for Annual Committee Meetings and Comprehensive)

In accordance with the Graduate Student Research Tracking Policy, these forms, plus a copy of the student's written progress report, must be returned to the departmental office after each annual meeting, be it a Thesis Committee meeting or the Preliminary Oral Examination. These forms can be filled out on the computer (fillable pdf files) but must be printed and signed before being sent to the departmental office.

• Graduate Student’s Research Progress Record  (Form 2 - to be completed by student before the meeting)

• Graduate Student’s Research Progress Report Form  (Form 3)

• Composition of Thesis and Comprehensive Committees form (to be submitted within 2 months of first registration)

As regards the holding of these annual meetings (whether it be a Thesis Committee meeting or the Comprehensive Oral Examination), the following are the procedures governing them:

  *Note that new thesis procedures have come into effect as of September 1st, 2011.  Supervisors are now expected to secure both the internal and external examiners for the thesis.  Guidelines are available on the GPS website.  Also take note of the "Procedures for Securing An External Examiner", which we suggest be read before completing the "Nomination" form.
